The DPRK has not issued standing invitation to special procedures mandate holders.
The Special Rapporteur on the rights of the persons with disabilities conducted an official visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in May 2017. This is the only official visit by the Special Procedures to the country.

The UN Working Group on enforced or involuntary disappearances regularly sends communications to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on cases of enforced and involuntary disappearances. The Working Group has repeatedly called on the DPRK to repatriate hundreds of people abducted during and after the Korean war. The DPRK has not responded to repeated requests for a country visit from the Working group.
