Extending human rights and denuclearization of DPRK must go together: UN expert

Extending basic human rights across the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea must be part of any deal on denuclearizing the peninsula, according to the UN’s independent rights’ expert on the country.


Tomas Ojea Quintana welcomed recent “rapid progress on the political and security front”, with the Trump Administration suggesting that a summit could be held with DPRK before the end of May.


The Special Rapporteur spoke to Bronwen Cowley.
