SEOUL (9 February 2022) – OHCHR (Seoul) hosted today a webinar briefing entitled “Magnitsky-style Sanctions to Combat Human Rights Abuses and Corruption and the role of NGOs.” International human rights NGO Redress delivered a training session with contributions from Human Rights First and the Open Society European Policy Institute. The presentation provided an introduction to the use of individual targeted sanctions in the United States, United Kingdom and European Union to promote accountability for human rights abuses. Trainers then gave practical advice for NGOs to submit recommendations for individuals to be sanctioned. More than 25 representatives of NGOs in the Republic of Korea, Japan, and Europe attended the webinar
